“First Plan” process for the first year

With the roll-out of the NDIS happening in so many places for so many people from July 2016, the NDIA are going to implement a “First Plan” process.

This will help with rapid entry to the Scheme, with planners using set questions and allocating individual budgets using reference packages as benchmarks. Some participants will be interviewed by telephone and some will have a face-to-face interview.

The idea is that the “First Plan” will be based on continuity of existing supports and will allow you time to develop goals and explore options in preparation for the next plan.

Because the “First Plan” approach favours continuity of support in the participant’s first year you will need to be well prepared before your interview. A current assessment may also help.
