Volunteering

Volunteers are an important part of Allowah. There are a number of roles, some with direct contact with the children and others without, that volunteers can hold. Some of the kinds of volunteers we accept include work experience students, Presbyterian Church groups and adults who wish to donate their time throughout the week.

  • Music

    Kids love hearing live music! If you've got a gift for music, you might like to come along and play for the children on a regular basis.

  • Storytelling

    Sit with the children and read a book or tell a story.

  • Play

    Spend time with kids playing with a toy or having playful interactions.

  • Gardening

    Allowah has beautiful gardens, including a special sensory garden that is safe for kids. You might like to help maintain them by weeding and pruning.

  • Handy Work

    There are sometimes odd jobs that need to be done. If you've got some handy skills, you might be able to help keep our facilities in tip-top condition.

  • Support Raising

    Are you a big fan of what we do here at Allowah? You might like to volunteer your time to help raise support for Allowah.

Please note: Due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, we are currently only able to offer limited volunteering opportunities. We can’t wait to welcome many more volunteers on site soon. Please contact us to find out our current capacity for volunteers.

Before starting at Allowah, volunteers must:

  • be at least 16 years old
  • be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and Influenza
  • complete Application Paperwork needed to be a Volunteer
  • have a valid Working with Children Check (>18 yo)
  • obtain an NDIS Workers Clearance
  • complete mandatory training for volunteering at Allowah
