Allowah

Support for Parents & Carers

At Allowah, we are committed to a Child & Family Centred Care Framework. As part of this, we seek to offer support and connection to the parents, carers and families of children we see at Allowah.

Parent Support Group

Make time for you at Allowah’s Parent Support Group – for parents and carers of children with disabilities

Allowah’s parent support group is a chance for parents and carers of children with a disability, developmental delay or a chronic health condition to come together and spend time with others who ‘get it’. As well as the opportunity to support each other as you travel the road of finding the best care and supports for your child, the group is also an opportunity to learn about services you might find helpful.

There is no charge to come along and you will have the chance to take some time for you and enjoy coffee and a chat with other parents. Preschool aged children are engaged in play with our wonderful play helpers giving parents some time to relax and talk.

Chaplaincy Support

Allowah has an intentionally Christian mission and employs a part time Chaplain to provide pastoral care for the children, families and staff.

Individual support from our chaplain is available to families as needed, by phone or personally.  This can be in times of crisis or simply when dealing with the ongoing challenges of life with a child with a disability. Allowah actively respects the child’s and family’s culture, values and beliefs.

If you are a parent or carer of someone at Allowah, you can request contact from our Chaplain to provide you with support or a listening ear.
