What is the NDIS?

If you would like to know more about the National Disability Insurance Scheme you will find information here in a variety of languages.

The NDIS aims to support people with a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities. This is done through identifying and providing supports that will help your child achieve goals such as increased independence, involvement in their community, education, employment and health and wellbeing. The NDIS is intended to give you more choice and more control over how, when and where your child’s supports are provided. The NDIS also focuses on early intervention where getting early supports can reduce the impact of disability on your child.

Is my child eligible for the NDIS?

You can work out if your child is eligible for the NDIS by using the NDIS Access Checklist here.

Or you can call the National Disability Insurance Agency on 1800 800 110.

If your child is eligible you will be sent forms for completion. We can help you get started with these if you like – free of charge with no obligation to use our services – just because they can be tricky to understand at first.
